Ingredients

  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • 1 cup vanilla frosting
  • Star-shaped sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk.
  6. Divide batter into three bowls. Color one red, one blue, and leave one plain.
  7. Layer batter colors into cupcake liners.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
  9. Cool completely before frosting.
  10. Decorate with vanilla frosting and star sprinkles.
